06.27.2024 | 12:16 AM | SANTA ANA - Two men who became trapped following a crash into a palm tree were freed by firefighters, early Thursday morning.

The crash involving a black Nissan pickup truck and a palm tree was reported on South Standard Avenue and East Bishop Street around 12:16 AM.

When authorities arrived they located the Nissan on a sidewalk resting against a palm tree with both occupants trapped inside.

Firefighters used bodily force to free the passenger by forcing a door open while additional crews used the Jaws of Life to cut open and free the Nissan's driver.

Both occupants were rush to area hospitals in unknown condition.

Residents who live nearby said they heard the impact of the crash but did not hear any tires screeching or anything indicative of the vehicle attempting to stop before the collision;

The cause of the crash is under investigation and the potential role of drugs, alcohol, or speed remains to be determined though a Modelo box was observed at the scene of the collision.
