Pyralfruit BHA8 - Saturniid Night

This is the boss theme for my Touhou-style bullet hell script, made as an entry for the 8th Bullet Hell Artistry contest hosted by the Bullet Hell Engines discord server!

Unlike the stage theme, this is a song I made before the contest and used since it was pretty much just lying around. The concept I had for the boss character is one that I'd made a while ago, in the form of sketchbook doodles. I thought back then that a cryptid like the Mothman would fit right in with Gensokyo's cast of characters, though by now I can't remember exactly why I thought that. Turns out that later with the release of Touhou 19, Zun made a character inspired by the Chupacabra, so I guess cryptids aren't that out of place after all.

Either way, at some point I started experimenting with Retrologue instruments, and found a lead that in my mind sounded suitably "moth-ey". I decided to dedicate that song to this character, and then the contest gave me the perfect excuse to turn it into something more!
