A new restaurant in Taipei’s Xinyi District has won a lot of fans. Its Chinese-style food is the brainchild of a Michelin chef, and the hot and spicy menu is perfect for a chilly winter’s day. It also incorporates high-tech gimmicks like an automated service track with AI technology that reduces the need for staff, and also keeps the dishes pristine, away from any potential contamination. Diners say they are impressed.

Skewers marinate in chili oil with fried dough sticks. This bright red dish has been steeping for hours, and diners can’t wait to dig in.

The dish is quite suited to a Taiwanese palate. It’s not too spicy. It’s just right for us.

Diner
I think it’s all Chinese-style, pretty much. The level of spice is not bad. We all liked it.

This improved flavor is the work of a Michelin chef. Each diner can adjust the level of spice to their own taste, to create an elevated experience of the classic skewer.

Dishes are served on automated rails. This eye-catching sight is rare for Taiwan. Restaurant owner Yeh Wei-chieh comes from the logistics industry. He’s brought that expertise into the restaurant here, and incorporated the latest trend: AI design.

Right now, we have a shortage of labor in the broader climate, so we have to adapt to the times, and also to the increase of AI elements. We’re reducing staff numbers and reducing environmental contact.

The service by rail improves the experience for many customers. They like that it ensures the dishes stay clean, and the novelty of the new technology. It also embraces the “rechao” culture of freshly stir-fried dishes. This restaurant has already carved out a unique niche in Taipei’s competitive Xinyi District.
