This video shows a way to patterning a super beetle dashboard...I have followed two stages: the first molds were done in 'brown paper'; these molds were then transfered to vinyl material in order to get 'new molds/templates' which should be assembled together on the dashboard to do some little corrections.
Why templates in vinyl?...because it is thicker than paper and it has almost the thickness of leather material, besides it is stretchy and give us the chance to get molds from non-flat areas.
