I Made an Adjustable Skirt from Scratch (and a T-Shirt to Match)

Описание к видео I Made an Adjustable Skirt from Scratch (and a T-Shirt to Match)

I was tidying my fabric and found this beautiful grey-blue linen which I had forgotten about and had bought to make a Split Side Skirt. I also have some plain cotton jersey to make a top with.
So in this video I will show you how to make both without having a bought pattern first.
The Split Side Skirt, sometimes called A Split Waist Petticoat is based on an 18th Century petticoat pattern. It is adjustable at the waist and so comfortably fits you all the time. You only need your waist measurement to make this skirt, which is made from two oblong pieces of fabric plus the waist ties. I wear a separate pocket with this skirt in the manner of historical 18th. century pockets.
For the jersey top I used a current one that fits me well as a pattern to cut out the new one. This is easy to do and is also quite an easy thing to sew. Within a few hours you can have a whole completely new outfit!
This is definitely beginner friendly as there is no shaping to the skirt and there are no darts, buttons or closures on the top. Just some easy sewing.
Here's a link to the video where I first made a couple of these skirts last year;
