Описание к видео The River That Feeds Europe | The Danube | Part 3 | Journal

In this episode, we travel upstream through Bulgaria and Romania, where the Danube dresses in her best clothes, to prepare for the mountains ahead. And communities carve out their own happiness as they live off the river and have done for thousands of years. Visiting old war prisons, meeting the Calderash Gypsies who are historic blacksmiths and the magical island lost beneath the waters, Ada Kaleh.

A river that flows through 10 countries, starting from Germany's Black Forest and ending in the Black Sea, the Danube is the second-longest river in Europe. Flowing through much of Central and South-eastern Europe, no other river in the world runs through as many countries making it so unique. Containing rich history from World War II and beyond, to offering a variety of wildlife, the Danube is truly an impressive sight. Nick Thorpe takes us on a journey up and down the Danube to explore all the greatness that it holds.
