Franklin Park Railfanning (Freight Train Derails)

Today was quite a unique experience at Franklin Park along the Canadian Pacific Elgin Subdivision. What started out as a normal, slow start to the day ended up being quite eventual when CP 247 derails just outside of the Metra station blocking the major road railroad crossings making Franklin Park difficult to travel through. We did our best being helpful witnesses and coordinating with the railroad throughout the investigation explaining what we saw when the derailment occurred. Please note that there were no hazardous chemicals or items that spilled resulting an evacuation and no injuries were reported. We were given permission to proceed to show briefly of what happened to share with all of you. Skip to 9:42 to see the derailment unfold.

At the end of the day, no injuries were reported and nothing hazardous didn’t spill which turned out to be a minor derailment. Thankfully it couldn’t have gotten any worse. Overall, everyone was okay despite facing a different and unique situation by helping out in anyway we could.
