Richard Wagner's epic opera PARSIFAL is a monolith in the canon of late Romantic music: conceived as a "Bühnenweihfestspiel", motifs, iconographies and rites from medieval legends, New Testament Christianity and Buddhism meet the harmonious suggestive power of Wagner's late work – and together create a hypnotic pull.
