Soviet ShMS Gas Mask review and test

Описание к видео Soviet ShMS Gas Mask review and test

Review and test of the Soviet ShMS/SChMS optical gas mask.
The mask was designed for snipers and other soldiers who would need to look through optics such as scopes and binoculars.
The mask bears a strong resemblance to a skull and has a voice diaphragm at the front, the inside is different but the valve assembly is similar to that of a Shm41.
The East German version of the mask was known as the SChMS, however, East Germany did not produce the mask, so they simply "rebranded" the mask as the SChMS when issuing it with NVA gas mask satchels.
The mask is designed to take Russian cannister filters via the hose, although you can directly attach a filter to the mask, however Soviet-Russian filters and also those of the Warsaw PACT are now confirmed to contain asbestos. So it is much safer to find an alternative GOST filter and use that with the mask instead.
This is by far my favourite of the Soviet military gas masks, both through practicality and it's creepy design.
