Avulsion is a process of channel diversion. It is characteristic of Alluvial Channels.

This question was asking you to explain and elaborate the factors that cause avulsion.

In structuring the answer, make sure you explain the concept of avulsion and the factors and also end the answer in reference of how the concept may be important for river and stream management in India. Avulsion like in river shifting and braiding streams can cause floods in North Indian rivers that are typical alluvial channels with high floor sedimentation and depositions.
