Ford Electric Power Steering Failure Solved - Noise on Ford Taurus EPAS w/ Repair and Cost

Описание к видео Ford Electric Power Steering Failure Solved - Noise on Ford Taurus EPAS w/ Repair and Cost

In this video I talk about the electric power steering noise I had in my 2014 Ford Taurus and how to fix the problem. The car is equipped with the Ford EPAS system, which is their electric power steering system that is used in many of their newer vehicles. The sound was a scraping or scratching sound and did not cause any power steering codes to come up on the scanner. Electric power steering is great but it can be very costly to repair. I diagnose the problem and where the noise is coming from as well as how much it cost me to have the EPAS repaired and/or replaced. I also opened up the old system to pinpoint exactly what the issue was inside the EPAS unit and show you where the sound was coming from.

The symptoms were a scraping or scratching sound that appears to be coming from both sides or the car and underneath.... very difficult to tell exactly where the sound is coming from... could not tell if it was the steering shaft itself rubbing on something, or if it was coming from inside the rack and pinion.

I talk about how to diagnose the problem and also show the inside of the EPAS and where some issues may arise. The electric rack and pinion contains bearings and in this case, that is what the problem turned out to be. Ordering the unit from autozone part number ER1002 is the most cost affective route, in most cases half the price of other replacement units, and below I have a link to this part. It is NOT an affiliate link, just trying to help out people with the same issue.
