Weland the Smithy (also known as wayland the smithy or Volund from the Poetic Edda) is an elf who is so skilled at armour and weapon making he is persecuted by a king to leverage those skills, and who then delivers revenge in the most horrific way. There is kidnap, mutilation, and worse, alongside other atrocities in this tale from the Dark Ages.
