60007 Roars past Helwith Bridge hauling the Fellsman 28/08/2024

60007 took charge of the latest Fellsman on a dull an wet Wednesday morning from Blackpool North to Carlisle. For a first shot I headed to a location I haven't used for 12 years; Salwick station. Since I was there in 2012 the Blackpool line has of course been electrified but even with the wires I was able to use almost the same viewpoint as I did then, approximately 1/3 of the way down the station ramp, high enough to see down the long straight towards Kirkham but low enough to be under the wires. Accelerating away from the pickup at Kirkham, the A4 looked and sounded great as it flew past running around 3 minutes down.
There was ample time then to reach the classic Settle & Carlisle shot at Helwith Bridge and for most of the 70 odd minutes I was waiting it rained heavily. Luck was on my side though and it stopped and brightened up around 10 minutes before the tour was due to pass. Again 60007 looked and sounded great as it accelerated along the short level section running pretty much on time.
