Cultural Protection Fund: Bettany Hughes meets Syrian refugees becoming conservators of the future

Описание к видео Cultural Protection Fund: Bettany Hughes meets Syrian refugees becoming conservators of the future

In our series of films 'Rebuilding Lives', co-produced by the British Council and Sandstone Global, historian and broadcaster Bettany Hughes visits British Council supported projects in Jordan and Lebanon.

In this film, Bettany visits a project run by World Monuments Fund where displaced Syrian refugees are learning traditional stonemasonry to become conservators of the future.

This project is supported by the British Council's Cultural Protection Fund, set up in partnership with the Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport to protect heritage at risk due to conflict in and around the Middle East and North Africa. As well as protecting vital cultural heritage that is at risk of being lost forever, the fund is also working with communities in the region to create sustainable opportunities for social and economic development.
