Описание к видео Grangegorman - The Lower House. An abandoned Lunatic Asylum, Dublin, Ireland.

An extensive tour of 'The Richmond (District) Lunatic Asylum' in Grangegorman, Dublin, Ireland. This early 19th century building was Ireland's first specifically-built lunatic asylum. It based on the plan of Bethlehem Hospital (aka Bedlam) in London. The area behind the building was previously occupied by numerous wings and facilities; these were demolished in the 1990s. The building is now ruinous and someone built a primary school directly in front of the facade.

2015 update: the building is undergoing stabilisation works as part of the DIT Grangegorman Campus project.
2021 update: works are now complete and videos of the completed work are available on YouTube.
