Join Deb in embodying the Divine Feminine with your #InnerGoddessTeam! This week, we’re honoring Al-Uzza, pre-Islamic goddess of love and fertility, and fierce warrior and protector. She was part of a triad of Arabian goddesses, including Manat and Al-lat; who I highlighted in October 2022.

Al-Uzza is the youngest – the Maiden -- of the triad and was a chief goddess to the Nabataean people of Mecca and is said to have had a sanctuary of three acacia trees in a valley on the road from Mecca where her followers could connect with her.

She was the virgin warrior of Arabia and sometimes referred to as “The Most Mighty” because she was a fierce warrior in any battle and would protect anyone devoted to her. During a battle, it was traditional for the women of Mecca to sing chants in Her name to inspire courage in the warriors and gain victory against the enemy.

Al-Uzza was also called the Mistress of Heaven because she was believed to be the morning and evening star, Venus -- which also presents her as a goddess of love and marriage.

And even though Arabia is a land of deserts and nomads, Al-Uzza was revered as Goddess of the Sea since the Nabateans did make ocean voyages to trade. In this aspect, she guards ships on ocean voyages, as well as fish and dolphins, and was the protector of fishermen and sea travelers.

You can invoke Al-Uzza when the Evening Star, Venus, rises. And if you happen to live in a desert environment where acacia trees grow, you may find her there.

Call on her when you want to tap into her fresh, maiden outlook and view things from a new perspective. At the same time, if you need confidence and protection in facing a challenging encounter, call on her fierce warrior energy. And finally, with her connection to Venus, she can support you in your marriage and/or affairs of the heart!

I closed by sharing a goddess chant that seemed to embody several aspects of Al-Uzza:
We are the power in everyone;
We are the dance of the moon and the sun;
We are the hope that will not die;
We are the turning of the tide
