Suzuki Ignis 2021 Review | Well-Priced Slice Of Joy

Hello guys, and welcome back to Car Obsession. 2020. Let’s face it, it was a year full of doom and gloom, so what better way to start 2021 with this, the vibrant and funky Suzuki Ignis. Long term viewers will remember that I reviewed this car all the way back in 2017, but the second generation Ignis has recently been given a facelift. This means tweaked looks, improved efficiency, and also a choice of a CVT gearbox.

The Ignis starts from a little over £14,000, but the model you see in this video is £18,399 as it's the SZ5 fitted with Suzuki's 'AllGrip' four wheel drive system, and it's also finished in the optional 'Rush Yellow' metallic paint work. Standard features include LED headlights, 16" alloys, rear privacy glass, 7" touchscreen, DAB radio, Bluetooth, navigation, smartphone connectivity, reversing camera, automatic headlights, cruise control and auto air conditioning.

With this pint-sized car having the AllGrip system the new Suzuki Ignis is also able to boast hill descent control and grip control. On top of that, the SZ5 variant offers safety features such as autonomous emergency braking, lane departure warning, speed limiter, and six airbags.

Powering this city car-come-crossover is a 1.2 litre naturally aspirated petrol engine, which, like the pre-facelift, is backed up by a mild hybrid system. UNLIKE the old car, though, it can ONLY be had with the mild hybrid system (the old model could be purchased without it). Power is modest, with only 83hp on tap along with 107Nm of torque.

0-62mph is dealt with in 12.8 seconds, and the top speed, in case you're really interested, is 103mph. The new car is actually a bit less powerful than before, but the plus side is the mild hybrid system has been improved as the battery capacity has gone from 3Ah to 10. Suzuki states that on a combined run the Ignis is able to offer 51.9mpg and the engine emits 123g/km, meaning for the first year of VED you'll be required to pay £165.
