Metal lathes, my observations

Good early Monday morning, I give a few thoughts on various industrial grade manual lathes ease of use and productivity as I get ready for another day of machine restoration. I talk about the best of import Japan and Taiwon built mid size gear head lathes that became popular replacements for general use in industry in this region as replace for more costly or aging American lathes, the imports having larger spindle bores, higher but fewer speeds, having no clutch often using a cable actuated foot brake that also shuts down the spindle via magnetic switches, fast easy moving levers resulting in more productivity and less operator fatigue.
