Bebop Supercharged! Jazz Improvisation Lesson

Bebop scales and blues riffs are great, but one of the best ways to practice bebop language is through 'approach tones'. This is one of the first things I learned that made me say "A-HA!".

In this video, I demonstrate 5 different ways to compose melodic lines that are based on the arpeggio of a C7 chord.

Using these five 'approach tone' techniques, you can come up with seemingly endless ways to practice - and that's just on a C7 chord! Take these ideas and apply them to any chord you like...combine them with a few transcribed riffs here and there and suddenly you will find yourself developing your own unique bebop jazz vocabulary.
