This video offers the complete analysis of the poem titled "A Day" by Emily Dickinson. We have prepared it for Grade 12 students for their Compulsory English subject from Literature section.
The poet has composed it in four Quatrains. Each Quatrain is in four-line form. The first stanza doesn't have a rhyme scheme, whereas in the second, third, and fourth stanzas, the second line rhymes with the fourth line. The poem is composed in the rhyme scheme as abcd efgf hiji klml.
"A Day", the title of the poem denotes the unit of time that ranges between the sunrise in the morning and sunset in the evening. The day starts from the sunrise and terminates at the sunset. The first two stanzas are about the birth (sunrise) whereas the last two stanzas (third and fourth) are about death (sunset).
About the Poet
Poet Emily Elizabeth Dickinson was born on December 10, 1830, in Amherst, Massachusetts.She belongs to a prominent family who have strong ties to its community. Through her literature works, she is considered as one of the most important figures in American poetry although she was little known during her life.
