Thermoplastic prepreg tape process
1. Melt dipping method: It can be used in high-end aerospace.
The continuous fiber passes through the process of yarn release and yarn spreading, and is fully impregnated with the molten thermoplastic resin extruded by the extruder through the impregnation mechanism, and is cooled and hardened and wound into a coil.
Technical description: easy to control, low manufacturing cost, high production efficiency, stable product quality and low environmental pollution; the resin content of the product can be accurately controlled
The melt impregnation method is currently the most widely used and the most industrialized manufacturing method.

2. Laminated film method (GMT molding process) or fiber-film hot pressing method: (The product is used in industrial grade)
The fiber reinforced material layer and the thermoplastic material sheet are superimposed, and the heated and pressurized polymer flows between the reinforced materials, and then cools and sets.

Or sandwich two layers of glass fiber felt between three layers of thermoplastic polymer melts or films, hot-rolled on a crawler, and harden by cooling to form a semi-finished sheet. After preheating, the semi-finished product is placed in a mold for compression molding.

Technical description: The process and equipment are simple, but the resin content is high, and it is difficult to produce high-fiber content, high-performance products; the high-viscosity matrix resin is difficult to infiltrate the fiber.

3. Solution dipping method: (The surface effect of the product is matte, which is used in industrial grade)
Solution impregnation is to dissolve the resin in a suitable solvent to reduce its viscosity to a certain level, and then use the process used in thermosetting resin impregnation to infiltrate the fiber, and finally remove the solvent.
Technical description: It can overcome the shortcomings of high melt viscosity of thermoplastic resin, and make the fiber get good impregnation. But the solvent must be completely removed, otherwise it will cause the performance of the product to decline; solvent evaporation and recovery are expensive and pollute the environment; there is physical stratification in the process of solvent removal, penetration along the resin fiber interface, and the small pores and voids where the solvent may gather on the fiber surface Inside, causing a bad interface between resin and fiber;


4. Powder dipping method: (The surface effect of the product is rough, which is used at industrial level)
The powder impregnation method uses a powdered resin matrix, which is then fully combined with reinforcing fibers to make a composite material. According to the different combination of resin powder and fiber, wet powder impregnation and dry powder impregnation.
Technical description: The fiber damage is small, and the polymer is not degraded; but the preparation of resin powder, the adhesion of resin powder and fiber, etc., require complicated equipment conditions and strict process rules, and the production cost is higher; the resin must be finer The resin content is difficult to control, and the impregnation quality is difficult to control due to the uneven adsorption of the resin powder.
