Hicaz Mandıra (Hijaz Mandira) is a traditional Turkish instrumental piece that beautifully showcases the emotional depth of the hicaz maqam, a mode known for its rich, nostalgic tones. This piece also reflects the deep historical and cultural ties between Turkish and Iranian music, as the hicaz maqam closely parallels the homayun dastgah in Persian classical music. Both traditions emphasise microtonality, ornamentation, and expressive melodies, creating a shared musical language that evokes longing and melancholy. Rooted in centuries of cultural exchange, Hicaz Mandıra highlights the timeless connection between Turkish and Iranian musical heritage.
