Elgin High Football: AT EAST AURORA September 3 1993

Elgin came into this game as one of the favored teams in the conference but East had other ideas, beginning with an 81 yard kickoff return for a touchdown by Tobin Ruff to start the game at 11:46 of the first quarter. George Trajo added the extra point kick. Demetrius Roberts would later answer that with a 54 yard punt return for a touchdown with 2:28 left in the first, and Chet Mustard tied it with the extra point kick. Ruff scored again for the Tomcats on a 65 yard run with 1:12 left in the first and Trajo again added the extra point for a 14-7 East lead. Roberts came through again for Elgin on a 52 yard punt return for a touchdown, Mustard kick good, and the teams were tied at 14 at halftime. East took the lead on a six yard pass from Andy Kinnelly to Donnie Chapman with 3:33 left in the third, kick good again for the final score of the game. Elgin had their chances to tie the game but East's defense held on for the upset.
