Believe you me, I also thought the kryptonite gag got old after the tenth episode of Smallville, but when it came down to it, there’s no way I could pit an insufferable near-invulnerable do-gooder against a legion of mediocre conscripts and mangled half-cyborg and not root for the underdog. Even when the underdog has an intergalactic fleet of Star Destroyers.
