Super tiny RnD on better tetrahedral deformation. It is based on this (graphics.pixar.com/library/PhongDefo/paper.pdf) @Pixar paper.
Original idea was to try and use it for volume deformation as it seemed quite promising, but, unfortunately with volumes it suffers from artifacts on the tet boundaries. Still might be useful to someone interested in tetrahedral deformers so I'm sharing hip file with basic example:
