Thin FEM development log

Описание к видео Thin FEM development log

Here is the third (and last) video in the FEM cracks series.
First video:    • Houdini bullet through glass simulati...
Second video:    • Thin FEM for physical cracks propagat...

So, I accumulated a lot of material during development and thought of
making a less formal video showing development timeline (and suffering)
for a pet project like this. It can be considered as a bloopers reel since I'm
including failed tests and wip playblasts.

All clips are put together in a chronological order except one. Date stamps
are in the top right corner. Large gaps between some clips means that I was either
busy on commercial projects or some other RnDs.

Usually when we, as FX TDs, present our work, it appears polished, complete and effortless.
This generally does not reflect the realistic picture of actual amount of work behind it. With
this video I wanted to put things in perspective and show what a real timeline and challenges
for developing something like this looks like. Also, I am not a professional developer.

Hope you enjoy the video.

Sometime next year, I will get on enhancing the solver with plasticity, adaptive remeshing and
more optimisations. So, more videos to come (hopefully).
