Heathkit HW-101 Restoration #2

This is a start to finish video documenting restoration of an HW-101 transceiver (SN 36 46383). This is geared for folks like me who aren't specialists but want to enjoy troubleshooting and restoring these fine old rigs.
This particular rig revealed the following highlights:
- What happens when a tube socket is improperly installed
- Wacky voltage swings in the heterodyne oscillator caused by bad V19 tube.
- A well-aimed solder splash leads to a fiery resistor
- A good brand of tube (GE) saves the day
For those who hate the part where I spray and scrub down the rig in the sink, this technique comes from retired Heathkit engineer Robert Sumption and it works. Other methods work too, but this is how I do it.
