Culturally appropriate lifestyle advice

Описание к видео Culturally appropriate lifestyle advice

In this episode, Dr Sundhya Raman speaks to Dawn Liz Powell about how to ensure that lifestyle advice is culturally appropriate, specifically for people who are South Asian. She says that while white European people tend to eat more ultra-processed food, South Asian people are more likely to cook with the ‘wrong sorts of fat’. Therefore, lifestyle advice should take account of these cultural differences.

Dr Raman also discusses how to encourage people (of all cultures) to engage with lifestyle modifications. She states that healthcare professionals should try to make ‘every contact count’ and ask what they can do to help patients make lifestyle changes.
