DCS World - MiG-19 vs F-104 Starfighter, Taiwan Strait 1967

In 1967, tensions between People's Republic of China and Taiwan (Republic of China) were again high. Just like in 1940s and 1950s, combat aircraft from both sides would regularly meet in the skies over the Taiwan Strait. On one occasion, this turned into an aerial battle between four Taiwanese F-104s and eight Chinese MiG-19s (J-6). Both sides suffered losses but this is historically the first case in which the famous Starfighter scored confirmed kills. The pilots who claimed those kills for Taiwan were Maj Shih-lin Hu and Capt Bei-puo Shih.
