The 1954 Rugby League Lions arrived in Australia in a confident mood after regaining the Ashes in a 2-1 series win in England in 1952/53. (This was the first team to fly across the world rather than sail)
The Australian team was also confident of winning on home soil, led by captain Clive Churchill and Vice Captain Duncan Hall.
Both teams were chock full of future 'Hall of Famers' and the series lived up to expectations.
Australia won the First test in Sydney and the teams met for the Second Test at the Brisbane Cricket Ground (now known as the Gabba)
The British Lions were unstoppable, but the game is remembered for one of the greatest ever Test tries by Australia's Brian Carlson.
