Sicilian trains! R12955 Taormina to Giarre-Riposto with Trenitalia ETR104 Pop no97 13/04/22

Here is a reupload and improved version of a video I took on a journey from the gorgeous Taormina station to Giarre Riposto (on the east coast of Sicily). It was taken from the 07:56 R12955, which was running late. However, new Alstom ETR104 POP unit 104.097 was running the service.
During the next ten years, a new double track cut off will be built from Giampilieri to just after Fiumefreddo di Sicilia. Whilst this will benefit longer journeys, it looks like the old line through Taormina may be closed. This is madness, the coast line is heavily used. Multiple stations will be closed and not replaced. As an example, this service was packed with school and college kids. The unit has a capacity of 321 seated. How are all the kids going to get to school when the railway is closed? It won't be by rail any more. Also, the line from Alcantara to Randazzo is being re-opened. At this rate, it will end up running to Alcantara, which will itself no longer be linked to the main line. I hope they come up with a plan that doesn't involve losing this important coast line.
