When most of you were tucked up warm in bed in the small hours of the night, I ventured out to Welwyn North station to capture three train movements that are a little bit special.

First off is the 155P Low Fell mail train, which had made good time as it passed through the station 18 minutes ahead of schedule at 12:31am. This was then followed by 5X44 from the Doncaster Works Wagon Shop, where a 3rd rail EMU was being moved from the workshops to Tonbridge West yard. Again, this was running 13 minutes ahead of time, passing through at 12:45am.

Then finally the main reason I ventured out on such a cold night, the Eurostar. This had made its way from Temple Mills depot to St Pancras International station under its own power, to then be hooked up to 66769 which would drag it all the way to the scrap yard at Kingsbury Sidings. Due to a local train ahead of the 66 it coasted into the station at around 1:10am. Once the line had cleared the driver opened the throttle to accelerate... turn up those speakers and enjoy the sound.

What was interesting was that I wasn't the only nutter to have ventured out, and five other enthusiasts were there as well. One guy had a 90 minute trip back to Harwich !

With the red tail light fading in the darkness we said our goodbyes, and jumped in our cars for the trip home - heaters turned up to the max !
