I’m back with another video inspired by the Japanese film The Beauty Tax. The movie is about the government imposing a beauty tax on beautiful people since being conventionally attractive makes your life easier. You know how you have biases in Kpop? Well, this is a beauty bias where the good looking person can do no wrong! Things start to take a turn for the worst when the main character’s life starts spiraling out of control in her quest to pay the most beauty tax. It was interesting how it mirrors life in a weird alternate universe sort of way. Celebrities and famous people are changing their looks so they can further their careers and find success – but at what cost? I also talk about Kpop idols, the Kardashians, and Bella Hadid and how these expectations to look like an Instagram beauty filter have affected their lives.
