Fly Fishing in Cumbria for wild brown trout on the River Gelt
The trout here are easily spooked, but there is plenty of vegetation cover. A beautify river with lots of shade that's great for a hot day.
Some perseverance and a change of flies is needed, along with the ability to scramble about in the gorge.

I used various flies on the day but the fish went mainly for a size 16 Griffith's Gnat, but as you can see the hook didn't always set.
A change to a Supa Pupa from the Svenkaflugor fly shop in Sweden was much better.
