#3 Etude Project: Kreutzer #12
Since teaching via zoom, I have had to get creative with how to share sound goals. I have been doing a lot of recording examples for scales, arpeggios, pieces and now etudes. (I use BandLab, Acapella, You Tube, Google Drive and I share my screen in zoom lessons.)
Kreutzer 12:
It is so easy in this etude to have screechy and irregular sound. Pitch is a bear, and bow stroke can often sound either too long or too short or uneven. Some editions have dots, some don't. I don't believe it needs to be overly marcato, but I also don't think it should be "light", nor totally legato. It needs a full ringing sound. It is very difficult to get sound to ring IN TUNE throughout, carrying the ring one note to the next. Finding harmonic color is also a pleasant thing to do. It should not all sound the same.
This etude is the hardest of the first 3 I have recorded (Kreutzer 9, Sitt 19 and now this), because the shifts and stretches in the left hand make pitch super difficult to nail, (as you can see!)
Feel free to use and share as you wish.
