The Frenchie - Fly Tying Simple Flies

Thought to have originated with the competition fly fishermen in France, the Frenchie is one of the many descendants of Frank Sawyer's original Pheasant Tail. Competition angler Lance Egan popularized it in the states.

Hook: #12-18 nymph
Weight: Ten wraps of 0.015 weight
Bead: Tungsten, sized to match the hook
Thread: Hot orange or pink
Body and tail: Six pheasant tail fibers
Rib: Fine gold or copper wire
Hot spot: Tying thread
