NYC: Subway and LIRR in Woodside, Queens

Описание к видео NYC: Subway and LIRR in Woodside, Queens

Today we are in the neighborhood of Woodside in Queens, New York City. Woodside is served by the IRT Flushing Line of the New York City Subway (which runs here on an elevated route) as well as the Long Island Rail Road (LIRR), a busy commuter railway.

Woodside – 61st Street station is a major interchange between the Subway and LIRR. The most part of the film shows this station. We start at the platforms of the IRT Flushing Line, which has an express stop here. The film was shot on a Saturday, and while there is usually no express service on this line on Saturdays, there was engineering work taking place, which forced Flushing-bound (7) trains to run express from Queensboro Plaza to 74th Street – Broadway.

The second part of the film is then devoted to the LIRR station, showing some trains from and towards Penn Station in Manhattan. Since the Subway tracks run elevated above the LIRR station, one can capture beautiful shots that include both LIRR and Subway trains.

The film finally concludes with some (7) trains at 69th Street station, one station closer to Flushing. We see a Flushing-bound (7) train passing the station on the express track and switching to the local track just beyond the station.

Enjoy!

Filmed on Saturday, 26 September 2015.
