Jim Carrey: Commencement Speech at Maharishi University of Management | Motivational Video

In 2014, actor Jim Carrey delivered the commencement speech at the Maharishi University of Management. The performer speech was hilarious and entertaining; however, it also gave great lines of inspiration which focused on self, fear, and choice. He tells a story about his father and how he could have been a great comedian but let fear get in the way. Instead, his father tried to be an accountant but ended up getting fired from his job. This is where Carrey lays down one of his best quotes from the speech, “You can fail at what you don’t want, so you might as well take a chance at doing what you love.” Telling this story is impactful because many of us can relate to family members who have made sacrifices or have passed up opportunities out of fear of failure.
