真定老人达摩剑Jingwu Damo Jian and Applications

This set was created in the 1930 by Jingwu Headcoach Zhao Lianhe( a Master of Er Lang Men other sources state him as expert of Xingyi and Tantui) and Chen Tiansheng( Is this the same person as Chen Zizheng? If so then he was a master of Ying Zhao Fanzi Men).

Maybe a brief overview on the Shanghai Jingwoo Martial Arts Association. It was founded by the Famous Mizong Master Huo Yuan Jia(霍元甲) around 1909-1910( There a different source pointing to the one or the other date).

The purpose of Jingwu was to made Martial Arts traditions availible to everyone.In the past most Martial Arts Traditions were secret. Of course there was also always some exchange between Masters, schools etc.. but generally you can say they kept their arts secret or certain points which they felt was important, or for leaving an advantage for themself in case of an unprecended incident.

This was to make sure that these Traditions the way the are, to secure the holders, families or what so ever from beeing defated from enimies and that dangerous methods or techniques are only be taught to people with high Moral values.

That was to make sure that no harm would be caused to other people with these methods. This was good, but generally it caused another problem. Due to several incidents Traditional Martial Arts suffered a great loss. Many masters died and so the teaching traditions were incomplete. Other masters wouldnt go out and teach as they hadnt opened their door to disciples.

Also in the past there was a long conflict between different masters(for example the Yihe Society or the Hung Mun) and the Qing Dynasty, then followed the opium wars and the occupation of China by western nations and after that the confrontation between the Nationalist and the Communists and the war against Japan. So there was great turmoil.

This let Jingwu and their members and Masters who were invited to teach their(according to Yang Jwing Ming Sun Lu Tang was also there and even contributed a "Bagua Dao" set) arts openly and help to establish a Martial Arts school which can be taught in a relative short amount of time to many and on the other hand is helping to preserve Traditional teachings.

Its said that this set was compiled from Wudang Zhenqing Gong and Zixiao Gong sword methods.Both are Daoist sword methods.I wasnt able to find some information about them besides Zhenqing Gong and Zixiao Gong are also names from Daoist temples on Wudang.

Normally I do not upload such videos, as I am more interested in Tang, Song, Ming Dynasty martial arts or maybe also pre to middle Qing Dynasty arts but this video offers a lot of interesting details in application which are quite interesting for me.
