Lightroom has some pretty powerful masking tools, but they badly need the ability for refinement...

Too often, I see photographers creating unnecessary halos in their images on the subject or around the spot where the foreground meets the sky. These are usually due to poor selections, and Lightroom's sky or subject selection may be to blame.

Unfortunately, because it almost always applies a small feather, you'll end up bleeding over whatever effect you're trying to use. While this isn't a problem when you make minor adjustments, you'll begin to notice some halos when you try to get aggressive with your adjustments.

Hopefully, Adobe will add some mask refinement tools in a future update, but until then, I recommend jumping over to Photoshop if you want to make aggressive local adjustments specifically to the sky or your subject.
