Accessing Aeolian

Описание к видео Accessing Aeolian

Hey everybody! Here's the next episode of Scales & Tales with the next installment of this special look at the modes from the major scale and this time we're hitting the popular/common sixth mode - Aeolian - so let's dive in!

The Aeolian mode is also known as the "Natural Minor Scale" or "Pure Minor" scale and appears in nearly every style of music - from classical, jazz, and rock, to progressive rock, hard rock, metal, pop music, and much more! Anytime you've heard a "sad song" - it was probably written using this scale.

The ideas shared in this episode are similar in form to the previous modal episodes, only this time we're hitting the dark Aeolian flavor/tonality. After the opening jam and a brief introduction surrounding this scale, this episode continues forward by revealing how to find the "parent scale" for the Aeolian mode, a few useful scale fingerings to explore, a number of Aeolian-flavored chords (mostly Minor b6 chord voicings), directly comparing Aeolian to the other two minor-family modes from the major scale (Dorian & Phrygian), and an Aeolian-approved song suggestion to continue your journey of working with this common and useful scale choice.

Needless to say, if you've been following this series and are ready for the next step, curious to learn more about the popular Aeolian mode, in need of a refresher, or maybe just curious about what all the fuss is about - this episode is totally for you!
