At around 11.10pm, Fire & Rescue NSW were called to a shop fire on Newcastle St, Rose Bay.

Crews forced entry into a laundry and began their fire-fighting operations.

Thick black smoke made visibility difficult, so thermal cameras were used to assist in finding the source of the fire.

After the source of the blaze was located and extinguished, crews set up a ladder to search the top floor of the two storey premises.

No persons were inside at the time and no evacuations were needed.

NSW Police are investigating the fire with the assistance of Fire & Rescue NSW.

NSW Ambulance paramedics remained on standby to assist with their operation.

The cause of the fire is being investigated, however it’s not believed to be suspicious.

It’s believed fabric found on the floor may have self-ignited.

The laundry was significantly damaged by heat and smoke.
