Armand was born in Worcester MA in 1939 and raised in Southbridge, MA with French-Canadian family roots. He received a bachelors degree from the College of the Holy Cross in 1961and a MA in Political Science and Natural Theology from Boston University and a C.A.G.S in Counseling. His Roman Catholic religious roots were a core source of his shamanic curiosity. His early interest in indigenous cultures was with the NipMuk people (Webster Lake) and Wampanoag people (Cape Cod). He was strongly affected in the late 60's and early to mid '70s by the cultural challenges and awakenings as well as eco-consciousness and peaceful protests, along with the cultural and poverty consciousness awakening. He was involved with Interface in Newton and Another Place Farm in New Hampshire, and with the teachings of Stan Grof, Michael Harner, Ram Das (Richard Alpert), Baba Muktenanda and Oscar Ichazo (Arica training). Armand practiced psychotherapy with Holistic Family Practice in Newbury.

In 1989 he emigrated to his ancestral roots in Canada, living, as he still does, in Nova Scotia. There he was welcomed by his indigenous neighbors, the L’nu, and the Mik’maq. He is currently the holder of the Eagle Staff at the Sundance in Maria, Quebec. He is the past president of the Clinical Hypnosis Society of Nova Scotia.

Armand in active in the Buddhist community of Nova Scotia, currently as a student of Anam Thubten, Rinpoche, in the Dzochen tradition. He is past president of the Mahone Bay Meditation Centre. He previously spent ten plus years involved in Shambala practice.

He has studied with teachers in Ecuador, Costa Rica and Brazil.
