Walk 141 | South Downs | Halnaker Windmill

A four-mile circular walk on the South Downs in West Sussex to Halnaker Windmill.

My walk begins at St Mary & St Blase Church in the village of Boxgrove (adjacent to the historic ruins of Boxgrove Priory) and follows footpaths through to Halnaker, passing through arable farmland and the vineyard of the Tinwood Estate.

I next pass through ‘The Folly’, cross the main road (A285) and join the tree lined ‘Mill Lane’, to start heading up Halnaker Hill.

After approximately 0.4 mile, a path on the left takes me to the summit of the hill, the location of the Windmill and Trig Point S4110 (127 metres).

The final section of the walk retraces my steps back to the church in Boxgrove.

This video was filmed in 4K on a GoPro Hero 11 and a DJI Mini 3 Drone, on a grey and windy day in August 2024.
