http://www.autobytel.com/mercedes-benz Autobytel recently caught up with the Creative Director of the Mercedes Benz Advanced Design Studio in California Hubert Lee for a closer look at the G wagon inspired Ener-G Concept car which won the LA Design Challenge at the 2012 Los Angeles Auto Show.

The Ener-G Force concept is meant to be a police car for the future, the year 2025 to be exact. What you see in this video would be the civilian version of this concept. The LA Design Challenge gives automotive designers and excuse to do something crazy and wild. The Ener-G Force is a modern interpretation of the original G-Wagon from Mercedes but at the same time the designers did not want to do a retro version instead coming up with this futuristic concept.

The Ener-G Force wagon has a rugged sensuality that combines the ruggedness of an off-road SUV with the sensuality of a high-end luxury car. The intent was to keep the lines of this concept clean which is why the door handles were moved up to the pillars. Based on the reaction from this concept, the design elements in the Ener-G Force could one day become a reality.
