Chordplay - The Chords of Extreme

Описание к видео Chordplay - The Chords of Extreme

Here's the next episode of Chordplay with The Chords of Extreme.
Extreme's guitarist Nuno Bettencourt hit the scene in the late 1980s and literally exploded in popularity with a ton of respect/admiration coming from fellow players on the scene and was featured in various guitar magazines, not to mention becoming fully-established with Extreme's growing fanbase in the late '80s and early '90s.

His ferocious chops combined with a strong songwriting/vocal ability made Nuno a force to be reckoned with and he's remained a popular player and source of inspiration for tons of players all over the world.

This lesson takes a look at several interesting chord-based ideas hiding in Extreme's music, and aside from an obvious Van Halen influence in his rhythm playing and distribution of fills and melodic phrases, you can hear traces of influence coming from classic rock groups such as Queen and Aerosmith, not to mention funk-based ideas borrowed from artists such as Funkadelic, Prince, and The Red Hot Chilli Peppers. Needless to say, Extreme is a stylistically random band and their variety of influences really helped them establish their own sound and unique style.
