PIER CITY CYCLES TUTORIAL - BMW R9T Rear Shock Absorber Remove & Refit

Welcome to the Pier City Cycles Tutorial Series. In these videos, we hope to show you a range of jobs or mods that you can carry out on your BMW R9T or R18. We hope to cover those simple jobs which new owners might not feel confident in asking, all the way through to the signature mods we use to transform our builds.

In this tutorial, we'll show you how to remove and then reinstall the rear suspension shock absorber on the BMW R9T. This is a task that only requires a small amount of tools and only around 30-40 minutes of your time in the garage to carry out. We always recommend going for a Wilbers rear shock, but this process works for all makes.

Tools Required;
A Ratchet
A T50 Torx Bit (2014-20 Models) or a T55 Torx Bit (2021+ Models)
Torque Wrench (up to 60Nm)
A Scissor/Trolley Jack
A Rear Workshop/Paddock Stand
