A relaxing bike ride video. Cycling on long straight roads, De Beemster polder in Noord Holland. The Beemster is a good example of how the Dutch drained large areas of land in the early 17th century and turned it into fertile and profitable agricultural land so that farmers can grow food there and thus contribute to the food supply of fast-growing Amsterdam. In 1607 the States of Holland and West Friesland grant permission to drain the large lake De Beemster. Since 1999, the Beemster polder has been a World Heritage Site.
