The NRL has officially confirmed its plans for Las Vegas next season, and these are not good. They are trying to cram four games into a single game as part of a so-called rugby league festival. In reality, it is a disaster—a pointless plan that will do nothing but exhaust attendees.

Two more NRL games will open the Las Vegas season, as well as a match between the Australia and England women and a Super League Clash between Wigan and Warrington. It would be so bad if these were spread out over two days and in different venues. In fact, that would be a very good idea.

The NRL is taking it in the opposite direction. Do they really think visitors to Las Vegas really want to spend 10+ hours in a stadium? Do they not understand what that does to the atmosphere? Everything that made the 2024 NRL season openers in Las Vegas good will be removed.

Those in charge of rugby league have made a massive unforced error here. Instead of growing the Vegas season opened sustainably, they are going to break it. The NRL Vegas 2025 plans are a huge mistake even if the league doesn’t see it that way.
