God of War 3: Sky Jump Glitch Technique

Описание к видео God of War 3: Sky Jump Glitch Technique

Learn to Sky Jump in God of War 3.

This took me some figuring out, but it looks like the levitation (Sky Jump) riddle has been finally cracked. Without going into - too deep - an analysis, there are some things I can say for certain now:

Ledges that have collision near them that break Kratos free from a committed grab (mostly while gliding) can cause him to go flying into the sky.

So far there are 2 configurations that work (some easier than others, depending on a particular configuration).

Configuration 1:
Grabbable ledges that intersect with other grabbale ledges, or walls (as to form a corner, of sorts). Gliding into these corners at about chest height, at a unique angle causes Kratos to begin to grab the ledge. But this "grab" (and glide?) is then interrupted resulting in a Sky Jump.

In my opinion, Kratos is in some combined state of falling (or gliding?) and trying to continue his "grab" that was interrupted.

Configuration 2:
Grabbable ledges that have uneven or oddly shaped collision around, or in front of them. These collision can even be invisible. Gliding "flush" against these ledges (as opposed to the corner method) causes Kratos to try to grab it, but the collision in front/around the ledge causes his grab to be interrupted. An example of this is in the clip where Kratos is chasing Hermes. I glide flush against the collision, but there seems to be some invisible collision along it causing this "grab break".

EDIT: It's important that you don't actually TRY to grab a ledge while gliding, keeping a sustained glide against the ledge (at chest height) seems to be important.

If we could find a way to reproduce this "grab break" at any ledge, the game would be considerably more broken too. Also, it might be worthwhile testing this on the other God of War games.

Also, if you want to learn stuff like this, go check out the glitch FAQ for this game, AKheon has written a large update for it the other day:

The clips in this video (Note: I've barely searched for glitch spots, at this date):
1. A New Game skip at Mount Olympus. Watching the first Gaia scene at the top is required for the next area to load.

2. A NG+ skip of the Hephaestus cutscene (not really faster, but interesting). I didn't really need to land on the golden dome, but that makes the camera angle more manageable.

I also demonstrate that you have a small degree of control over Kratos during the glitch, as long as there is collision above or around him. In other words, there is some minor room for proper navigation, before zooming upwards.

3. At Daedalus, I skip directly to the top of the box that has the Boreas Switch thingy. There seem to be a few different Sky Jump launch spots at the Caverns. (Needs testing).

4. Dicking around at the Hermes chase, haven't managed to utilise the Sky Jump properly there yet.

5. At Cronos -- I jumped up to his face to see if you can skip all the other phases. But his chin has no Onyx through it yet, and there are no prompts or attacks that you can do to begin the kill sequence.

Not in vid: I also went behind the onyx at Cronos' stomach, but you can't break it from back there yet.

On a different note, yeah I'm back...sort of (some of you knew I would, as did Hades apparently...as seen in the first clip of this vid).

I'll still make time to upload the occasional video, just don't expect them coming think-and-fast like previously. I appreciate how many of you said you enjoyed these vids, I frankly thought no one was too interested in this extremely niche area of gaming.

Thanks to all.
